Hello, I bought a Nec Versa S900 on may 2003.
I installed Mandrake Linux 9.1 (kernel 2.4.21) and everything works fine, exepted for the firewire controller (R5C552 IEEE 1394 Controller) and the modem (Intel 82801DB) that are shown as 'unknown devices' and don't have any driver. Since neither Nec nor Intel provide drivers for Linux for this system, I'll have to make a broader search to see if they exist, or wait a little, since this computer is brand new.
